This PoE 2 Ascendancy tier list is updated for Patch 0.5. The classes are ranked based on how well they clear maps and how powerful they are when paired with the best builds available. The top-tier Ascendancies represent the current meta, tearing through content and providing a strong League start, while the lower tiers tend to struggle compared to the stronger options.

Keep in mind that a class's performance ultimately depends on how you build and play it. This tier list serves as a general overview to help you determine which Ascendancies are best suited for League starters.

If you enjoy playing a class in a lower tier, that's not a problem at all! Path of Exile is all about experimenting with new ideas and using your creativity to combine abilities in unique ways.

Best Ascendancies in Path of Exile 2 0.5

Deadeye

If you want a class that can kickstart your League quickly, is easy to use, and can effortlessly decimate bosses, Deadeye is the best option available. With the meta Deadeye Ice Shot build, you're able to freeze enemies rapidly while dealing massive AoE damage, making map clearing an absolute breeze.

The base class, Ranger, already provides very high mobility. Combined with the ability to freeze enemies in place, you'll find it much easier to avoid death and stay safe.

On top of that, the Snipe skill is an incredibly powerful ability that can one-shot bosses while they are frozen, provided you have the correct passive setup.

What puts Deadeye at the top of the list is how easy it is to build and play. So if you're looking for a strong and beginner-friendly League starter Ascendancy, Deadeye is the way to go.

Infernalist

While its gameplay is not as straightforward as Deadeye's, Infernalist reigns supreme in the current meta thanks to the Recoup mechanic.

With the right Recoup build, you essentially convert the damage you take into Health and Energy Shield recovery, making you incredibly difficult to kill. Combine that with fast map-clearing skills, and Infernalist becomes an excellent League starter class.

However, you do need specific equipment, such as Sacrosanctum armor, and key skills like Pyromantic Pact to fully utilize what Infernalist is capable of.

On top of that, you get to transform into a fiery Demon form. Who doesn't like that, right?

Martial Artist

Martial Artist offers some of the most explosive gameplay in PoE 2. And by explosive, I mean thunderous, agile, incredibly high damage, and most importantly, a lot of fun.

There are many viable League starter builds for Martial Artist, and the best part is that they're all absolutely bonkers. They clear mobs at lightning speed and can make boss fights feel like you're taking down a regular minion.

The main reason Martial Artist sits near the top of the tier list is its versatility. Nearly every Ascendancy node provides excellent value, making it easy to build around different playstyles. If you want to progress quickly at League start while being OP, be a Martial Artist.

Spirit Walker

This new Ascendancy class is one of the top picks for a League starter. The best builds right now are Twister and Beast Master, both of which are extremely fun to play and can clear maps with little to no effort.

The Twister build offers incredibly fast map clearing with plenty of freeze-based crowd control and devastating tornadoes. It is a combo-oriented build, so you'll need to learn the skill rotation at first. However, once you get comfortable with it, it can outperform many other builds with ease.

Another reason Spirit Walker is so powerful right now is the Beast Master build. This build allows you to tame and summon companions, including powerful rare beasts, to fight on your behalf and obliterate enemies. In many cases, you can simply walk through maps while your companions do all the work.

Both builds make Spirit Walker one of the best League starter classes available, and it's definitely worth trying out.

That concludes the PoE 2 Ascendancy tier list for the current patch. Be sure to try these classes out and see just how powerful they are in the current meta.
