Pets are one of the most impactful systems in Build a Ring Farm, and picking the right one makes a noticeable difference to how quickly you progress. Some pets simply multiply your earnings while others have passive abilities that automate parts of your farm or upgrade your mutations over time. This Build a Ring Farm tier list ranks every currently available pet based on their overall value and how much they actually move the needle on your income.

Best Pets in Build a Ring Farm
T-Rex
The T-Rex is the best pet in the game and it is not particularly close. The earnings boost alone sits between 12x and 15.5x which already puts it in a different category from everything else, and on top of that it automatically upgrades a plant mutation every 300 seconds. It is a Secret rarity pet which means getting one is going to take serious luck or serious grinding, but if you land one, your farm income will jump dramatically.
Kitsune
Kitsune brings a solid 6x earnings boost combined with a 15% chance every 5 minutes to upgrade a plant mutation. The mutation upgrade triggers frequently enough to be genuinely useful over a long session, and the earnings multiplier is among the highest outside of T-Rex. For a Prismatic rarity pet it punches well above its weight and is one of the best you can realistically aim for without chasing Secret tier.
Velociraptor
The Velociraptor matches Kitsune on earnings at 6x but its passive works differently. Instead of upgrading mutations it grants a 5 minute time skip every 15 minutes, which effectively accelerates your entire farm's growth cycle on a regular schedule.
Spinosaurus
The Spinosaurus sits at 6.69x earnings which is actually one of the highest raw multiplier in the game, and its passive applies a Strong Pet Treat every 600 seconds. That means your equipped pet is consistently getting a 20% stat boost refreshed automatically without you having to manually buy and apply treats.
A Tier
| Pet | Rarity | Earnings Boost | Passive |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hydra | Secret | 5x | 15% chance every 10m to upgrade a plant mutation |
| Gallimimus | Legendary | 4.87x | 25% chance to fully grow a random plant every 2m |
| Triceratops | Secret | 5.23x | Applies a Normal Pet Treat every 300s |
Pros: Strong earnings multipliers across all three, useful passive abilities that either speed up growth or support your mutations, Gallimimus in particular has the most frequent growth proc in the game at every 2 minutes with a 25% chance.
Cons: Hydra's mutation upgrade triggers every 10 minutes which is noticeably slower than Kitsune's 5 minute window for the same chance. Triceratops only applies a Normal Pet Treat rather than a Strong one, making it the weaker version of what Spinosaurus does. Gallimimus is strong but relies on RNG for its passive to fire consistently.
B Tier
| Pet | Rarity | Earnings Boost | Passive |
|---|---|---|---|
| Polar Bear | Epic | 3.76x | 20% chance to fully grow a random plant every 2m |
| Mammoth | Legendary | 3.5x | 10% chance every 10m to upgrade a plant mutation |
| Lion | Epic | 3.2x | 10% chance to apply a Super Fertilizer every 5m |
| Crocodile | Rare | 2.25x | 10% chance to fully grow a random plant every 1m |
Pros: Polar Bear has the same 2 minute growth proc window as Gallimimus and is an Epic rarity making it more accessible. Lion's Super Fertilizer passive is genuinely useful for speeding up growth cycles and does not require you to manually buy anything. Crocodile procs every minute which is the most frequent growth trigger of any pet in the game even if the chance is only 10%.
Cons: The earnings multipliers in this tier drop off noticeably compared to S and A tier. Mammoth's mutation upgrade chance fires every 10 minutes at only 10% which makes it unreliable. Lion and Crocodile both sit below 3x and 2.5x earnings respectively which limits their ceiling regardless of how useful the passive is.
C Tier
| Pet | Rarity | Earnings Boost | Passive |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gorilla | Rare | 2.12x | Applies a Strong Fertilizer every 900s |
| Elephant | Uncommon | 1.43x | Provides a 1.2x Crop Yield Boost |
| Llama | Uncommon | 1.4x | Provides a 1.2x Sprinkler Power Boost |
| Golden Retriever | Common | 1.22x | Applies a Normal Fertilizer every 900s |
| Capybara | Common | 1.22x | Provides a 1.1x Seed Luck Boost |
Cons: The earnings multipliers across this entire tier are low enough that upgrading out of it should be your priority as soon as possible. Capybara's 1.1x seed luck boost is modest and becomes increasingly irrelevant as you get stronger seeds naturally. Golden Retriever applies only a Normal Fertilizer every 15 minutes which barely registers as a benefit at any stage of the game. None of these pets have any business being your main earner past the very early game.
